How do you copy configuration (PAC) files to a host computer?
All of the controller configuration data (e.g. controller name, joint limit stops, nominal speeds, etc.) are saved in files on the flash disk. The primary configuration files have a ".pac" or ".ppc" file extension and are stored in the flash\config\ folder. If a backup set of configuration data has been created, these files are stored in the same flash folder but will have a ".sav" file extension. For ease-of-use, the configuration files are all formatted as plain text files.
If you wish to copy the configuration files to a host computer, please perform the following procedure.
- Start up GPL on your Guidance controller.
- Connect to the controller using a web browser and login.
- Click on the tab labeled “Utilities” .
- Click on the words “Backup and Restore” in the left-hand panel.
- Click the button “Start File Manager” to open a FTP window. This should open the /flash/ folder. In some versions of Internet Explorer, you may have to follow the instructions to click on "Page" and then click on "Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer" to gain access to the folder.
- Open the folder on your host computer into which you would like to copy the configuration data. For example, in a Windows PC system, use the Windows Explorer to display a folder.
- Drag the "config" folder from the FTP window to the host computer folder and drop it.
- Wait until the copy operation is completed.
- Close the FTP window and return to the "Backup and restore" panel.
The "config" folder in the controller's flash that contained all of the configuration files will now be copied to your host computer.
