TFTP Client

TFTP (Trivial File Transfer Protocol) is a standard Ethernet-based protocol built on top of UDP. It was initially specified in standard RFC 1350. The GPL controller contains built-in TFTP client software that allows files to be exchanged with a TFTP server.

There are many TFTP server applications available. For example, free server applications from www.solarwinds.com and tftpd32.jounin.net have been used successfully with the PreciseFlex™ TFTP client.

Once a server is running on a host computer, files may be written to or read from the host by accessed the /TFTP device in normal GPL console commands and by GPL programs using the file-oriented methods. The /TFTP device syntax is:

/TFTP/ip_address/host_file

where

ip_address is the network IP address of the server in the form nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn

host_file is the path and name of the file on the server, subject to any server default path restrictions.
