Step 3:  Defining Locations Relative to a Belt

Once one or more conveyor RefFrame objects are defined, they can be utilized in the same manner as any of the other reference frame types. Locations can be defined with respect to a moving conveyor frame simply by assigning the Location’s RefFrame property the name of the conveyor RefFrame object.

Anytime that you subsequently teach the relative position of such a Location, GPL automatically samples the instantaneous position of the conveyor and performs the appropriate mathematics. Anytime that such a Location is specified as the destination for a motion, the system automatically adjusts the motion to correctly track the associated conveyor belt.

To assist in determining whether the instantaneous position of a Location, which is defined with respect to a conveyor belt, is within the limits of the conveyor, the following new method is provided.

Description

ConveyorLimit

This method returns the distance from the instantaneous position of a Location, which is relative to a conveyor belt, to one or both of the conveyor’s limits.  The returned value is in units of millimeters.
