Network Communication Panel

This panel provides information on the Ethernet IP configuration. The number of transactions and number of retries are displayed at the bottom of this panel for diagnostic purposes.

Network Communication Panel Overview

1. IP address settings

IP address:
Every controller or computer within a Ethernet network must be assigned a unique identifier called an IP address. The IP address consists of four numbers separated by periods. Each number of the IP address must have a value between 0 and 225; however, the first number must be less than 224 and the last number cannot be 0. The controller ships with a default IP address of 192.168.0.1.
Subnet mask:
A bit mask (set of flags) that specifies which bits of the IP address specify a particular IP network or a host (computer or router) within a sub network. An IP address of 192.168.0.1 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 specifies host 1 on subnet 192.168.0.0. The subnet mask determines the maximum number of hosts on a sub network.
IP Gateway:
The address of the gateway is used to reach a destination outside of the local network. For example, the gateway address is typically the IP address of a router that provides the interface to the Internet. This address only needs to be set if you intend to share the controllers interface outside your local network.

2. Network Status

This information provides some basic traffic information for the Ethernet network.

3. Change Settings
