Wizards and Setup Tools

While the system provides a tremendous degree of flexibility for addressing the needs of a wide range of applications and includes a very powerful set of functions, the resulting number of Parameter Database values can be very daunting especially for a first time user.  Fortunately, the vast majority of parameters need only be accessed when a controller is being integrated with a mechanical system for the first time.  Even so, when simple, more common operations must be performed, it can be difficult to know where to start.

If you are integrating a controller to a mechanism for the first time, we strongly recommend that you purchase a copy of the Guidance Development Suite (GDS) and utilize the Guidance Configuration Utility (GDU). GDU provides step-by-step wizards that significantly simplify the selection of appropriate Parameter Database configuration values for new systems.

To simplify the use of the controller, setup wizards are provided for more common operations.  These wizards are tutorials that provide step-by-step instructions on how to initialize key values in the Parameter Database.

Wizards Description

First Time Setup

This wizard provides an easy step-by-step process for initializing a copy of a system, where the controller has previously been integrated to a mechanism, This wizard supports renaming the controller, configuring the serial port, setting up the controller IP address and saving the configuration.

Startup Configuration

This wizard allows you to easily configure the way the controller will automatically operate each time it is booted. There are several modes of operation that the controller supports. This wizard makes it easy to configure each of these modes.
