Remote IO (RIO) Module Setup

The Remote IO (RIO) Module is an optional product that adds additional digital input, digital output, analog inputs, and serial ports to any Guidance Controller.  The RIO communicates to a Guidance controller via Ethernet.  Normally, the default parameter values are such that no configuration is needed.  However, it is possible that both the RIO and the Guidance Controller may need to be configured in order for the two devices to properly communicate over your local network.

The following setup procedures can be performed at any time.

Setup 3-RIO-1:  Configuring the RIO
Function Action / DataID's See Also
Ethernet address Set the Ethernet IP information for the RIO to an IP address and subnet that is compatible with the Guidance Controller by changing: "Local IP address (420)", "IP subnet mask (421)", "IP gateway address (422)".  By default, these values are set to "192.168.0.101", "255.255.255.0", "192.168.0.100".

(RIO Web) ... > Wizards and Setup Tools > First Time Setup

Restart Save the changes in flash and restart the RIO to have the changes take effect.

Setup 3-RIO-2:  Configuring the Guidance Controller
Function Action / DataID's See Also
RIO Ethernet address Set the RIO Ethernet IP address as the first element of the "Remote IO module IP address" (DataID 555) array.  By default, this value is set to "192.168.0.101"

(GC Web) ... > Controller > System DIO

Enable RIO communication To enable access to the RIO module, set the first element of the "Remote IO module enable" (DataID 554) to True.  By default, this value is set to True (1).

After performing this setup, the RIO digital output should appear as signals between 101 and 196 and the digital inputs should appear signals between 10101 and 10196 on the Guidance Controller.
